It is easier to import an export of a course that it is to import an archive of a course. Archived course may not properly import. If you want an archive file restored, you will need to contact the Blackboard Administrator. NOTE: some large courses might not be able to be restored from archive files.
If you want to save the course to reimport the content to Blackboard at a later date, exporting is the best option. If you may need to completely restore the course, including student submissions and grades, archiving is the best option. If you just want to be able to reuse specific files, downloading the course files is the best bet.
NOTE: Assignment annotations will not restore so if you want a record of those, you will need to download those individually. For accreditation purposes archiving may be sufficient. Be sure to save all course content to a secure university file storage solution such as OneDrive.
Exporting Your Course Exporting your course downloads all of the course content and materials into a. Login to Blackboard. Select Full Grade Center. Downloading Assignment Files. Selecting Students' Files to Download. You will now see a screen labeled Download Assignment: Check the boxes next to the names of the students whose submissions you want to download.
You can edit included comment text offline. User Information - Columns containing student data such as username are included. Select the file delimiter - Comma is preferable. There is a known issue with Tab-delimited files that may generate an incorrect file extension or an error when attempting to open the file. Select whether or not to Include Hidden Information in the downloaded data. Hidden information includes columns and students you hid from the view in the downloaded file.
On the next Download Grades page, select Download and save the file to your computer in a preferred location. You do not need to right-click on this link. Simply clicking the download button should generate the file. For security, you can only click on this link one time.
If you did not download the grade center within a reasonable amount of time, the link will time out and you will need to repeat the download process. Select the data to download: Full Grade Center - Contains all columns and associated data.
